It's that time of year  - graduations and proms galore!  I'm showing off my last  graduate at the banquet/prom.  We had a wonderful evening to remember.  He  commented several times how glad he was that he went.  Even my husband thought it was an impressive evening.  And yes, for those of you who don't know anything about homeschooling, yes, most of the parents were there and yes, the soon-to-be-graduates enjoyed the company of their parents.  Although, I have to
admit that my husband and I left around 10pm for some much needed rest while my son remained with his date until midnight.  Indeed it was an evening to remember.  The most touching part was when the seniors were presented on the staircase and
the dads escorted their daughters down the stairs.  It was a real tear jerker - I got a little weepy and I don't even have any daughters!  The room was filled with evening gowns and tuxedos.  It was so elegant.  

The Memphis-area Home Education Association really knows how to send folks off in style.  I'm so glad we didn't miss it!

He's so grown up.  I miss him already.
Below are some misc. pics from graduation as he leads the class in and then receives his diploma.  Yes, that's us on the stage because we go across with him.  The reason this is required (in this particular graduation) is because as a homeschool student, he didn't teach himself for 13 years - hence, the parents "graduate" too.  There's a pic of the banquet/prom - a rather tight pic on the stairs,  He's tall like my husband, so he's way at the top in the back.

It's late.
The local community centers are closed.
The YMCA is about to close.
Hubby just came home.
I am determined to exercise!
Don't want to leave since Hubby is home.

Hmmmmm????

Determined to exercise!
I turn on the radio and listen to the Bible teachers.
Turn up the volume.
Set the timer.
Strap on the ankle weights.
Grab the hand weights.
Making good use of my open floor plan.

Round and round I walk.
Again and again and again.
Up the stairs.  Down the stairs.
Then I jump in place.
Determined to exercise!
And I did it!

  

]]><![CDATA[Surely There Was a Point, Somewhere]]>Sat, 24 Mar 2012 22:09:50 -0600http://www.ladydellministries.org/1/post/2012/03/surely-there-was-a-point-somewhere.htmlWhat a day!  I ate too much AND the wrong stuff.  I didn't exercise.  Regardless of how simple or complex the tasks, nearly everything went wrong.  I had so much time today and wasted nearly every minute.  I wonder, if I had spent the day under a blanket clicking the remote, would the day have been any less productive?

It took all day, but I finally figured out the point.  Hope.  A looking forward.  Even though today left much to be desired, there's the hope of tomorrow.  I look forward to tomorrow.  The future holds great opportunities to give God my best.  And should "tomorrow" not come, that will be ok, too, because that means I will be with my Lord whom I have adored lo these many years.  It's a win-win for me.  That's a great point. ]]><![CDATA[Oprah Winfrey. "Don't be insecure.  Be inspired." ]]><![CDATA[Our Down Home Feast]]>Sun, 19 Feb 2012 23:24:48 -0600http://www.ladydellministries.org/1/post/2012/02/our-down-home-feast.htmlWe had our Black History program at church today.  After the service, we had a "down home" feast.  Some of you already KNOW what was on the menu...  Anyway, there were some items I REALLLLLLLLY wanted to eat, but I kept telling myself, "Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels."  Hence the cakes, ribs, neckbones, and a myriad of other items stayed off my plate.  Rather, I selected the cabbage (pork free), blackeye peas seasoned with smoked turkey (I made that. :) ), and sweet potatoes.  I skipped the sweet tea and fruit punch, and opted for my Bragg's Apple Cidar Vinegar with water that I brought from home. 

I can't say I made the best choices, but clearly the better ones, bnothing tastes as good as healthy feels!

]]><![CDATA[It All Matters]]>Thu, 09 Feb 2012 23:36:50 -0600http://www.ladydellministries.org/1/post/2012/02/it-all-matters.htmlIt's still early in the year and I'm hanging on the "got-to-lose-weight-this-year bandwagon.  I've already lost a few pounds by making some relatively small changes in my eating habits.  Simply going to bed was the easiest way for me to put a moratorium on late night eating – especially since I knew, there was no way I would get up to eat in the middle of the night.  I’m also eating out less and reducing my salt and sugar intake.  These have not been massive changes, but they are having an impact.   

In our spiritual life, even the smallest of things done for Christ it matter.  Sometimes, we feel that our little offering isn’t worth much, but just as in the widow’s mite in the Bible, when we give our all, even our (seemingly) tiny bit is huge in God’s eyes.

When it’s done for Christ, it matters.
